You ever played a video game where the tune of that game just get stuck in your head? Or how about everytime you hear the tune you will know instantly which game it is and all the memories of playing that game come rushing back to your head. Well, here are my top 10 most memorable video game music that once I hear the tune I will definitely know what game it is.

10. Sonic the Hedgehog – Sonic 1 Opening Title Theme

Composed by Masato Nakamura

Sega Genesis first Sonic the Hedgehog opening title theme. If you enjoy this, you should also try looking up Green Hill Zone theme, which is also one of my favorite Sonic themes.

9. World of Warcraft – Before BC Login Title Theme

Composed by Jason Hayes

Yes, you should know this in your head if you had played WoW before the expansions came out. The theme is from the login screen, which is also sometimes the theme you hated the most when you are waiting for the queue.

8. Mortal Kombat – The Album

Composed by The Immortals (Maurice Engelen and Oliver Adams)

I don’t think anybody could had escaped from this techno song in the 90’s. The song pounded “Mortal Kombat” into your head every 10 seconds or so, and it also demanded you to “test your might” (I still have no idea what that meant).

7. Mega Man – Mega Man 3 Opening Theme

Composed by Bun Bun ..=D Real name: Yasuaki Fujita

Brentalfloss from youtube actually made lyrics to go with the song. Awesome! Now his lyrics to the theme is in my head….

6. Castlevania – Super Castlevania Theme of Simon Belmont (Bloody Tears)

Composed by Kenichi Matsubara, Masahiro Ikariko, Kazuhiko Uehara and T-San

The beginning of the song makes me think of Vampires for some reason, then it just go into a happy action hero music…hope someone out there agree with me on this..

Great list, good idea putting Zelda over Mario.

Sonic the Hedgehog and Mortal Kombat were the most memorable for me. I had a genesis so I didn’t play mario until a long time after. Also the movies helped make the MK song more memorable, they had this techno remix that became really popular (even though the movies sucked).

Sadly, the image on the video is from the one zelda game that doesn’t have the theme in it.

‘Test your might’ in Mortal Kombat was the button mashing thing you did inbetween fights to break blocks of wood, steel and diamond :)

You’re all probably too young to remember Doom.

I know you can’t appease everyone. BUT the opening theme of megaman 2 was much more memorable than 3. And also MGS???? No love???

The reason people are demanded to “test your might” in the techno remix of the Mortal Kombat theme is because in the arcade mode of the first game you had to test your might or a test of might which was just a mini game to see if you could break wood, stone, diamonds, and rubys. The “test your might” line always tickled my nerd fancy

Ugh… those “w/ lyrics” versions are wretched. And that castlevania theme was first in Castlevania 2… and I think sounds better in 2.

I’m ok with this list only because Zelda is at the top. Zelda > Everything. Oh, btw, The Black Mages are a band that only plays FF encounter songs, you should check them out before giving Nobuo beef yo.

That is the worst mangling of bloody tears ive ever heard. sounds like it got chopped up a lot. Anyone looking for a good version should check out the DS games or the cover by the Minibosses.

I agree with the list, ‘cept the street fighter 2 theme. you should change that one out with the original Pokemon fight music. because you know you’ve heard it at least 500 times.

I’d add The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to that list. It’s been almost a decade since that game came out but I can still whistle the tune that plays every time you enter a shop.

It’s embarrassing enough for anyone over the age of 13 to want to hear these themes (guilty), but the ones with lyrics are just too gay. Whoever did that really has far too much time on their hands and needs to come up with a hobby. I hear smoking is a very popular passtime.

“10 Video Game Theme Songs That Just Sticks” is bad English. When the thing that sticks are “songs,” the singular “stick” should be used. The title should be “10 Video Game Theme Songs That Just Stick.”

It’s probably not as incredibly popular as the rest of these games which I understand would be why id didn’t make it, but my personal vote would be for hell march from Red alert.

Maybe someone here knows. Tried most other places…
I’ve been trying for many years to identify a track which was used as a loading theme for the original Bombjack game on Commodore 64.

I heard the real track very briefly on the radio in Germany in 1990.

    Anyone..? Anyone..?

Actually, I could probably whip up a semi decent mix of the track myself, but I *WANT* that original!

If you think you know, buzz me. Maybe I’ll do that mix 4 u! :-)
