A Brief Inside on the Mind of Miyamoto

For those who don’t know the man that has helped to make some of the most loved Nintendo games around, his name is Shingeru

Miyamoto. He’s the man behind a lot of Mario titles, Zelda games, and other instant classics.

So at E3 a lucky group got a moment to talk in depth with Miyamoto about, well, stuff. At first he went into a different sort of idea that he has for the DS that isn’t a game at all. Instead, he wants the DS to be used for information so that the DS is something people just won’t leave their homes without. The examples he used as to what this technology would do was the DS would have a shopping guide whenever people were in a mall or store. Sounds pretty neat.

He also talks about Super Mario Galaxy 2 and some new Zelda games that are in production. When he mentions the new Mario, he tells the interviewers how the game was intended to be a redone version of the first Super Mario Galaxy but developers kept adding so many new things it became a sequel instead. For Zelda, there’s anticipation of two new games in the works. The one that is further in production is a multiplayer game for the DS. The title is The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Unfortunately, the art piece Miyamoto showed to the interviewers is yet to be seen by the public due to the warning of no cameras made at the beginning of the Q & A. There is also a new Zelda for the Wii that is being worked on but not much information is available since it seems developers are waiting on the results of the Wii MotionPlus.

Miyamoto also had a brief discussion about Xbox’s Natal. He seems proud of the Wii MotionPlus but is also very interested in the technology behind the Natal. Based on his sporadic responses to the questions about what he would do with the technology, it’s pretty obvious that Nintendo fans are in store for some awesome new developments.
