Activision Donates $1M to Vets on Modern Warfare 2 Launch

November 9, 2009 by Ruibo

kotickActivision plans for a $1 million donation to help veterans transition from their military leave to civilian careers. The press conference will take place tomorrow at the Newseum in D.C. which will be hosted by Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.

Kotick has told the Washington Post that “The joblessness rate that [veterans] should have should be far less than the national average, not more. How do you expect people to actually join the military if when they leave the military they can’t integrate back into the free market they’re supposed to be protecting?”

Yes, we all know Kotick has done quite some idiotic things in the gaming industry but perhaps this can be a good thing? Activision Blizzard is in dire need of some damage control and whether this is just another shameless publicity stunt or not, 1 million dollars is still a nice figure to give away.
