Alternate way of powering up your DS Light
April 22, 2009 by srfto

Everyday i turn on my DS and begin using a series of programs created by independent developers. It’s far more then a simple gaming console for me, it’s a tool, that i carry with me everywhere i go. I even do phone calls with it, and browse the web. But every now and then, the battery discharges, and i find myself nowhere near a plug that i could use to charge it. But thanks to some DIY tech from a site called Instructables i found a way to power up my ds, while “on the run”.

The idea isn’t new, as it was used before in most pocket calculators, but is sure is handy. As you may have guessed, there is a way to power up you console by just using the power of the sun. Dark Sponge, the author of this new modification, figured out that affixing 60 x 60 millimeter solar panels to charge a power draining device is a good idea. And what better spot to place them, then on the top and bottom of the DS, because they both face upward when the DS is opened, and there is a large amount of surface area.

Homemade modifications never cease to amaze me…
