Bayonetta North American Release Delayed

bayonetta push

Japan is gettingĀ  Bayonetta October 29, but Sega West has confirmed thatĀ  the overseas release has been pushed back, much to holiday shoppers’ disappointment.

North American and European gamers are going to have to wait until January 2010 for their hair-rific action, which Sega is determined to make a success.

“Bayonetta is an extremely important new IP for SEGA and adds a new level of depth to our growing portfolio. As a result of market analysis we have taken a Publishing decision that January 2010 is the optimum release time in the Western Markets to maximize this exciting new title’s potential.”

It is probably in the best interest in the game’s success, considering the amount of attention bigger titles will be getting this holiday season. Brand new or less-known IPs do better after the huge holiday push, since consumers have some money in their pockets and aren’t overwhelmed with choices.

No matter the reason, it’s diappointing to see such a unique game like Bayonetta get pushed back for releases of sequels and the same ol’ same ol’.
