Bionic Commando Not Commanding Much: Only 27k Units Sold in

bionicviolence

Despite a tiny bit of hype, Capcom’s Bionic Commando hasn’t done so well sales-wise according to the NPD, selling only 27,000 copies in the month of May. To give it some credit it did come out on May 19, so it wasn’t an entire month, but 27,000 is still not very much.

In an industry that usually runs in sales of 150,000+ copies sold in half a year of even mediocre titles, things aren’t looking too bright for Bionic Commando.

Maybe the name “Bionic Commando” doesn’t appeal to the current generation of gamers, or possibly the whispers of actually difficulty scared some away. While those could be part of the reason for the game’s poor sales, it’s most likely because no one has said Bionic Commando a stellar game.

It’s hard to tell Capcom fans or fans of the series to pick the game up because it is a bit of a disappointment. And it’s just as difficult to tell someone who has never play a Bionic Commando game before to play it for the same reasons.

It’s a little sad to see a classic series fall on its face, but it happens to the best titles sometimes. Chin up, Capcom.
