After some rumors, it is official. EA is going to add face-buttons control for Fight Night Round 4 via downloadable content. As EA said in their Fight Night website, there will be free update by september wich will give players the option of swithing the default analog mechanic controls for face button controls. This is apart of the first free DLC pack  scheduled for next month. Sean Richards senior producer said:

“The depth and variety of new content we have planned this summer is going to make one of the most critically acclaimed games on the market even better. Among the new content in development, our new button control scheme will give fans a choice for how they want to throw punches in the game. We strongly believe that the refined Total Punch Control is the most intuitive way to throw punches in Fight Night Round 4, but we also want fans of the franchise to have an option.”

Many fans have claimed for this option, while others are against it because the use of face buttons will turn this into a button smashing game, making it easier for the casual gamers and against the interests of hardcore gamers.

Adding options to a game is always welcome, but we will love an option to turn off the face button control in multiplayer mode, because the idea of being beaten by a guy who is just smashing buttons gives me the creeps.

    First of all, it’s button-MASHING.
Second of all, button-mashing is not a skill, it’s just a unskilled gamer mashing away at the buttons. If you cannot beat a button-masher, how do you expect to beat a skilled gamer stick or button?
If you’re good, you’re good, a skilled stick user can crush a button-masher and vice versa. Period.
