Capcom and Sumthing Else Music Works Unite To Release Videogame Soundtracks
May 12, 2009 by srfto
On May 11th 2009 Capcom and Sumthing Else Music Works announced that they’ve begun a multi-title licensing partnership to distribute digital and physical soundtrack albums.
The leading video games developer and premier label will work together to release the soundtrack albums of the following best selling games Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Dead Rising and Bionic Commando. The terms of the license dictate that Sumthing Else Music Works have permission to distribute them in all formats within North America. Digital versions will be available by download from iTunes and Sumthing Distribution and the physical CD’s will be available from Sumthing Distribution.

When asked about the partnership Sumthing Else Music Works President Andy Uterano was incredibly upbeat and responded with “We are very excited to partner with Capcom in bringing their video game soundtracks to the North American market. Our mission as a label is to support and enhance the lifestyle experience of the gamer by offering the latest and greatest soundtracks so they can enjoy and revisit their favorite gaming moments through the music.”
This is another fine acquisition for Sumthing, who continue to expand and grow the long list of partnerships they have throughout the world. They really are becoming a real high quality leading distributor in the world of video game soundtracks and deserve all the accolades their reputation is beginning to deliver.
Furthermore, this is great for the fans of the games and also those who don’t play. These soundtracks allow the non-gamers an opportunity to experience the kind of music they’re missing, which helps bridge the gap and hopefully brings them into the industry.
