Codemaster: Colin McRae DiRT 2-Debut Teaser Trailer

The new teaser for Colin McRae Dirt 2 game sort of had nothing to do with the game. (well sort of) Showing probably a hung over guy roaming around what seem like his trailer home. Well, at least toward the end it showed some off-road cars jumping over a hill with thousands of fans screaming. I guess this is the new way to market games now where no game footage is actually shown. (I got suckered in by hot girl with bacon)

Colin McRae was one of the classiest guys in all of motorsports (RIP). There is nothing classy about this trailer at all. I’ve got to say, I’m very disappointed so far in the direction that Codemasters seems to be taking this game.

When it was announced that Ken Block will be the main voice of the game, I had a feeling things were going in the wrong direction. It appears that Codemasters is trying to make DiRT 2 into a more “XTREEEEEEEME” game, with crazy stadium jumps over fire pits, and ads for Monster Energy Drink everywhere you look. That is not what true rally racing is about, and I don’t want that in my game. (Not to mention the fact that if they were going to go the whole X-games route, why not choose Travis Pastrana, especially since he actually WON the event the past two years in a row and was already the voice of DiRT 1? But, I digress…)

I think the formula for DiRT 1 worked very well, and I really enjoyed it. Not a lot of flash and fanfare, or hot chicks in bikinis, or whatever…it was just all about the driver, the car, and the road. Honestly if they took DiRT 1, added some new cars and courses, and added a REAL multiplayer aspect to it, instead of just racing against the times of other people, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. The way things are going, it looks to be a rental at best. I hope I’m wrong.
