Could Yakuza 3 Be Coming Stateside?

Sega has always been a company that strives to work for the fans, even if things don’t quite work out as planned. What could be their next translation move is a bit out of the blue, but the fans are clamoring for it now more than ever: Yakuza 3.
The first two Yakuza games on the Playstation 2 were released to Western audiences, but due to poor sales it seemed Sega had completely given up on localizing anymore games in the series.
Since the announcement of Yakuza 4 (known as Ryu ga Gotoku 4 in Japan), English-speaking fans have been wondering when or if they will ever get to experience the third game in the series.
Sega of America’s community manager, Aaron Webber, posted the news about localizing Valkyria Chronicles II on the official Playstation blog and responded to a few comments. The most interesting of which could be a glimmer of hope for Yakuza fans:
“Yakuza 3 is not cancelled[sic] – and the possibility for localizing it does, in fact, still exist.
The original news story that went around about Yakuza 3 being declined for the US was false, and localizing the game still remains a big point of discussion for many people here at SEGA, and especially those of us on SEGA’s community team.I[sic] know it’s far from an announcement, but I just felt you should know that the chance does still exist.”
It might not be anything official, but it is something to sink your teeth into.
