Doom: Resurrection an On-Rails Shooter, Gameplay Trailer

On-rails rhooters are really a hit or miss, but id Software has chosen to make their newest game in the Doom series just that. The technical restrictions that come with developing for the iPhone might be to blame.
The iPhone wasn’t exactly made to play games, and many of the games developed for it suffer from some sort of control problem. Id Software is hoping to get rid of those issues by eliminating the middle-man and making Doom: Resurrection an on-rails shooter. The game is controlled by touching the screen to shoot while your character runs through demon-filled corridors — just a new twist to an old concept.
Truthfully the game does look good, graphically and otherwise. The gameplay looks fast-paced, which it’s going to need to be in order to pull off being on rails. And the graphics are probably the best on the iPhone yet.
Not a lot are happy with the gameplay direction of this incarnation of Doom from the trailer, but the game itself might prove to be better than it looks.
