Dragon Quest IX Crowds

Yes, as per the story by Tim Rogers, who writes for ActionButton.net, Dragon Quest IX was, indeed launched Saturday in Japan, and the crowd was maddening and uncontrollable. Square Enix had made such elaborate arrangements for the launch, that the entire population in Japan was aware of the event.

Despite speculations that Dragon Quest IX would be released on a “National Holiday in Japan”, and that too on a Saturday, instead of the usual Thursday,(to ensure crowds will be less), Dragon Quest was released on a Saturday, which was not a Holiday, and there were serpentine queues all day.
With over 2 million pre-orders, and reportedly with over million copies to be shipped, no one could have expected such crowds. But the celebrations were tumultuous, and queues unending.

Going by all this fanfare, I am sure Square Enix must have jazzed up Dragon Quest IX with some real great drama. I am dying to get my copy and see what this is all about!
