EA Confirms Limited Copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic at Launch

It seem like EA will be testing out their new strategy by limiting the copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic at launch. This was rumored months before and now it has been confirmed by an EA rep that they will be limiting copies at launch. Meaning both physical and digital copies of the game. Even though some copies of the game is digital it will still be limited by stopping the download of the game.

Reps from EA said that this restriction of copies both digital and physical will prevent their servers from crashing at launch. No word on how many digital or physical copies will be available, but it has been rumored that only the first 50,000 out of 500,000 pre-orders will be prioritized to get the game. The rest will be on a very long long queue.

EA rep did say that once they see that the players are almost to the limit of the server, they will try their best to expand the servers to add in more players. However, EA rep mentioned that they are not sure how long will that take.

No dates are set yet for SWTOR.
