It takes a master composer and game enthusiast to understand that just like graphics, music can make or break a video game. No one knows that better than Japanese video game composer for Distant Worlds, Nobuo Uematsu. Nobuo is like the John Williams of the video game soundtracks.

He left Squaresoft in 2004 to form his own production company, Smile Please. Nobuo has composted close to a hundred compositions for video games since 1985. Some of his better known music includes; all of the Final Fantasy games as well as 3D Worldrunner. Nobuo remains a very active free lance composer in both the game and film industry.

Game enthusiasts will have an opportunity to meet the composer following the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Choral Company’s performance of Distant Worlds: Music from FINAL FANTASY. Grammy Award winner, Arnie Roth, will be conducting the performance. Mezzo- Soprano, Angela Niederloh, along with, tenor, Stephen Rumph and bass, Michael Delos will be the featured soloists.

“Distant Worlds” starts July 9 at 7:30 pm and runs through 11 at 8 pm. Tickets for the concert will cost you between $25 and $100. For a chance to meet Nobuo at a reception following the performances, you will have to cough up $100.
