Famitsu’s Video Reveals Final Fantasy XIV Details

The September 2009 issue of Famitsu released in Japan reveals a bulk load of information on the recently announced Final Fantasy 14. The DVD is 8 minutes long and we have it here for you. You can scope out the DVD below or glance through our summary.
- Eorza is the region for the main setting of the game, the world takes place in what is called Haiderin. Their goal is offer a higher fantasy setting with more a modern feel and technology.
- The races in FFXIV will bring a familiar look as you can see from the past trailer.
- FFXVI will revolve heavily around character growth without experience points or a leveling system. Square Enix is trying to give out a whole new spin than to just grind monsters and EXP. Players can take on any quest and many different things to grow naturally from their gameplay experience.
- Jobs were wildly appealing in Final Fantasy XI and they intend to bring back that concept and improve upon it. There will also be a heavy focus on weapons which will determe how you play, grow and fight.
- The main idea for FFXIV is to provide freedom and the ability for players to meet with friends to adventure or solo.
- Square Enix is considering large scale battles but regular battles will consist of single enemies.
- The game’s music is going to be composed entirely by Uematsu.
“This will be a Final Fantasy that brings the setting to a whole new world that you can experience with the new friends you will meet.” Nobuaki Komoto, director of Final Fantasy XIV said. “I welcome you to join us in the world of Final Fantasy XIV and hope you enjoy your time there.”
“You can trust that we plan to create a world of new possibilities that redefine the MMO. I hope you’re looking forward to everything we have in store.”
