Fed Up With Evony Ads?

Probably, you are fed up with the Evony ads found everywhere in the internet. Ads in sites is not the only place you can find promotions to the game, you can also find them in websites and comments spamming blogs, forums, boards and everywhere where a comment can be placed. This is enough reason for some people to hate the game, but there is even more.
Jeff Atwood, US programmer and writer has documented the increasingly racy nature of this advertising campaign. “Thanks for showing us what it means to take advertising on the internet to the absolute rock bottom … then dig a sub-basement under that, and keep on digging until you reach the white-hot molten core of the Earth,” he said.
It all started with a medieval warrior promising a free game, then hot girls and now the girls just show a pair of boobs and say “click me” or “play discreetly” without referring to the nature of the game itself.
The game is a standard online strategy game, looking like Sid Meier’s Civilization, actually looking TOO much alike, so much that lots of gamers question the IP of the game and think it’s just a rip off. The previous name of this game was Civony, looking like Civilization too.
The game is “free” to play but they charge you even for breathing into the game. You can play for free, yes, but the system basically is made for players to spend as much money as possible. Players are constantly harassed to buy extras to progress in the game, but the pretty confusing way to price the add-ons lead users to not realise that even sending a message to another player is charged.
If this is not enough for you to hate the game, hold on to know who is behind it. Evony is a product of UMGE (Universal Multiplayer Game Entertainment) which is a company behind a Chinese gold-farming operation called WoWMine which is a so-so legal business and on the top of all the company’s owner is being sued by Microsoft over click fraud.
Anyways the game is still running and despite the bad commentaries about it in most places (but their own forums) keeps signing players in. Any publicity is good publicity I guess.

Ummm, first off, you aren’t “charged” for speaking to other players. To speak in world chat requires the use of a speaker per message, yes. Alliance chat is not. Not to mention how many speakers you get from FREE packages and daily amulet spins. The medal rarity is a big issue, yes, but after reading many forum posts, it’s also obvious that a large part of their rarity comes from how young the particular server is. A new server will have a significantly lower medal drop rate than an older one. Also, everyone has 7 days of protection to build up their city in peace. If you waste it building up a huge army, of course you’ll step out on day 8 and get pounded, especially if you still haven’t joined an alliance or built up any decent defenses. Also, what game DOESN’T require gold to buy extras? Unless you’ve paid $60 for an off-the-shelf PC game like Age of Empires (and then you’ll also need to buy it’s expansions later for additional cash amounts, not to mention any subscription fees for the online service), it’s HIGHLY unlikely the game will have graphics anywhere near the level of Evony, with or without a purchasing system. Also, say what you will about players being lured in or given false hope in-game by offers of free coins on the spin, I actually rolled 1,000 coins on a FREE daily amulet spin after only playing for 12 days. After buying Adv Teleports for each of my 3 cities, I spent the rest on additional amulets to use later. Sometimes a spin works out, sometimes it doesn’t. And no, Evony has no “master storyline” or finishing spot. It has alliances, ranks, titles, and quests. Part of the fun is making up your own idea of what the game should be. I ENJOY chatting with the people in my alliance, discussing different subjects (many of them completely unrelated to the game), keeping track of who is currently against whom, and generally just wasting time every now and then. If you play smart and invest a decent amount of time, attention, and thought into Evony, you can easily turn out on top. If not, you get what you put in.

i think that the ads are extremely perverted and they appear everywhere and it just drives me crazy because apparently they are desperate for users so they just stick perverted pictures everywhere on the internet. have any of you seen the newest ad? its the most perverted one yet
fed up with the evony ads? well apparently you arent the only one. Evony has banned discussions or posting the ads in it`s own forums. apparently evony doesnt mind polluting the internet with it`s deceptive ads but it doesnt want them or any discussion of them on it`s own site.
These ads are the most annoying thing ever! no matter where i go, i get a pair of bewbs flashed at me. If i wanted to look at bewbs id take off my shirt…
How about i develop, no not even develop more like rip off a game and start spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on advertising penises all over the internet. That probably wouldn’t work though as no one really is fascinated by that…But the worst thing is that the ads are the farthest thing from what they are advertising. Advertising for porn sites i get…people want to look at porn so they will click them, but these ads are so deceptive. “play discreetly”? who the f cares if your playing a civilization game?
Just goes to show the rock bottoms people are willing to drop to just to make a quick buck, not to mention the lack of intelligence in the human race for falling for the oldest shit trick in the book.
And before any off you trolls decide to spew out something along the lines “you’re only saying this coz you got owned in the game” I tried it, despite being 99.99% sure the whole add was misleading. And to be quite honest, if I wanna play civ, I’ll go play civ. Not this crappy rip-off. In short, tried it, didn’t find it interesting in the least.
The ads work. They create discussion and interest – albeit negative.
If anyone really believes they are signing up to play a MMORTS full of fresh, supple tits, then they deserve to waste their parents hard earned money on coins. Otherwise, I think adults should have the self control to keep their plastic in their pocket, not to mention their wanker in their pants!
Its perverted and crude and something needs to be done FAST about this site, the ads, all of it off the internet! It is not just adults who use to internet and they need to think seriously about how they are advertising!

This so called Evony game is a rip off and it does not leave a good impression for kids. I have noticed that it is widespread on most of the websites including sites kids go on to. I am against a game that advertises something it doesn’t really offer and which leads children to the un safe side of the internet.

This is craziness! Evony ads are all over the place, even on game sites childern like to play on. I think Evony has gone beyond the line, its about time they take it away, like its despicable…isn’t this world concerned, whats going on!?
I hate evony, purely because of those adds. Its so annoying, when they show up EVERYWHERE! They even have adds on facebook that dont have ANTHING to do with them.
