Final Fantasy XIII will Use 100% of PlayStation 3’s Power
March 31, 2009 by srfto

Square Enix does not play around when they release a Final Fantasy title. Recent interview with Final Fantasy XIII’s producers in Dengeki PlayStation 3, the game will utilize 100% of the PlayStation 3’s power. Just like Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantansy X, which also used up the juice in the PlayStation and PlayStation 2.
Here’s an excerpt from the interview with Dengeki PS3:
Interviewer: How much of the PS3’s powers do you think the game will utilize at the end?
Kitase: I think around 50% for the demo version. For the final product (just before it’s released), I think it will use around 100% of its powers. It is the same situation with FFVII and FFX where we fully utilized the powers of the PS1 and PS2.
Interviewer: Since the PS3 has Bluray, there shouldn’t be too much trouble with storage?
Kitase: If you are talking about using a single or dual layer disc, there isn’t really a problem with storage space. However, the PS3 also has a hard drive. Depends on which one you are talking about, but there’s still some work to be done on the memory side of things.
Just remember that Kill Zone 2, couldn’t even max out the PS3. No word yet, on how will this pull off on the XBox 360.

FFVII fully utilized the power of the playstation? LOL
FF8 and 9 pushed the PSX more to it’s limits than 7 did.
Have to agree. Final Fantasy 8 and 9 pushed the envelope farther on the ps1 than 7 in terms of cut scene graphics, animations, and full body renders in real time. Their soundtracks were also all encompassing, utilizing real orchestras and choirs to their likings. I think Final Fantasy 13 will rock the gaming world in terms of cinematic gaming experiences, just because Square is the ultimate storytelling platforming game studio. I mean, has anyone seen the trailer?
Watch all of the game’s trailers in order and you will see vast improvements over one another (though it may be a bit difficult to discern between 8 and 9 because of the cartoonishness that 9 brings with it. But I guess the same can be said with 7 as it has a more of a comic book vibe).
Lengend of Dragoon is graphically way better than FF7 on PS1. And FF10 is not the best looking game on PS2 either.
FF10 was a great looking game for the ps2 in general why not look at TM and freaking mk,ffs
But remember that even though FFX had awesome grafics, FFXII had even better. I think that in the future they will have acces to better tools and utalise more of the power of the godlike PS3
Legend of Dragoons graphics were not dramatically better than FF7. At the time of it’s release the graphics in FFX were amazing. Look at Final Fantasy 12. It was beautifully done. Square has always been great with story lines and astounding graphics.
I think what they really mean is that they have utilised its power fully with their current understanding of the PS3. Given a few more months, they will find shortcuts or ways that require less GPU or processing and therefore able to make a better game, as this is what happened with FF7 to FF8 and FF9, as well as comparing FF10 to FF12.
Same way FFXII was the best (or shall i say ultimate?) “utiliser” of abilities in PS2 i guess. Not only in graphcs but in gameplay there were lots of improvement like automatic commands (named gambits?) which are utilized by CPU not by GPU. But FFX was also great of its time. I guess each machines limit are known by time an experience. But every new media brings lots of new things to enjoy. So its no good comparing FF7 with FF9. But we can foresee what FFIII will bring by comparing FF9 to FFX.
I am really curious if FFXIII can surprise me again.
not gonna happen now that its also gonna be on xbox360. content size has been reduced heaps and character design models have now been made slightly simpler in design
please but on on ps2 name is final fantasy 13. that is bad well final fantasy 12
please but it on. i got demo off it on ps2
Can I use this pic in my Sims3 game? The content will be available for download for other sims players to use in their game but not for profitable use.
