Finding a Good Left 4 Dead Game Made Easier
July 17, 2009 by Polt

Valve has released a patch for Left 4 Dead, and this one has a new feature that is definitely long overdue. Namely, a much-needed lobby browser.
While it’s not the only thing included in the patch, it is the biggest. The lobby browser (which is available through “Play Online”), allows players to choose games based on their add-ons, maps, and difficulty. Oh, and you can download maps in-game now too.
This is a much-needed addition, since before getting into a game that you actually wanted to be in was entirely luck-based. And fan made content is readily available and doesn’t take a ton of hassle to get on the game.
Besides the lobby browser, the new patch also brings the ability to install a new version of an add-on while Left 4 Dead is running without crashing, as well as allowing player-created campaigns to be larger than 500MB. Quite a bit of change.
If you’re interested in the full list of fixes and changes, it can be seen over at the Steam site. The changes are definitely worth checking out.
