GameStop Jacks Up $5 on Wii MotionPlus
June 16, 2009 by Ruibo

At this day and age with the recession hitting us hard you would think businesses would lower their prices to encourage us consumers to spend our valued dollars, think again. Gamestop thinks otherwise, they’ve just recently raised their price on the Wii MotionPlus.
Nintendo has the peripheral listed at a suggested retail price of $19.99 in which Gamestop is selling for $25. Vast majority of the consumers aren’t aware of the suggested price in which Gamestop can reap a nice little reward to bump up their margin (as if their used game profits aren’t enough).
There are many retailers who are selling it at the suggested price of $19.99, even Amazon, one of Gamestops biggest rivals has it for $19.99. Maybe one day they’ll be selling $39.99 games at $49.99 as there are a number of consumers who never does their research.
A quick note thanks to ARS, the best way to buy your MotionPlus hardware is to get a game with it: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 adds the peripheral for only $10 over the normal cost of the game. If you’d like to equip multiple controllers with the hardware, just keep one thing in mind: don’t buy at GameStop.
