God of War 3 Gameplay Demo Shows Off HD Combat

When last we left our not-so-noble, bloodthirsty anti-hero Kratos, he was mounted on the back of a titan about ready to make war on the gods of Olympus. In March of next year, we’ll finally see just what happens when beings of nearly infinite power do battle. Here’s a hint: there’s a lot of violence, blood and gore. In true God of War fashion, Kratos will be mutilating anything and everything that gets his way in a matter of seconds – this time, in full, glorious HD. For all of the gamers who have a bit of a sadistic streak, it’s tough to beat the God of War series for pure visceral thrills.
Unfortunately, it looks like the game will have to pretty much rely on that bloody charm that made the rest of the series a hit, because it doesn’t seem like the developers added much new to the mix. Thus far, only a few new features for the game have been revealed. Of note, the gameplay demo shows Kratos hitching a ride on a harpy. Of course he does it the only way he knows how… by stabbing it a bunch of times. We also see a new weapon, a pair of lion-shaped fist weapons that Kratos can use to bludgeon his foes. Aside from that, it’s more of the usual: cutting through hordes of enemies soldiers, disemboweling centaurs, and battling the gods of Olympus. Reports from the floor say that he bloodily finishes of the god Helios by ripping the god’s head from his shoulders with his bear hands. All in a day’s work for the Ghost of Sparta.
