Mark Hamill has been our generations icon for playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars and now he is also mostly remember as for the voice for the animated and videogame character Joker. Sadly, it has come to an end because he will be saying goodbye to voicing the Joker after ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum 2′.
If you ever watched the 90′s Batman cartoon that aired in the afternoons or Saturday mornings, then you should know that Mark Hamill was the one that started the whole iconic laugh voicing as the Joker (thanks for the nightmares).
Hamill then voiced the Joker for the hit game ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum’, which was just superb and nobody would had done it better. Sadly, Mark Hamill announced that the sequel ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum 2′ will be his last voicing as the Joker.
“This will be my last, there’s no question about that,” he said. “But it’s the last hurrah.”
Hamill also said he first had mixed feelings about jumping into the game because he “left the role on a high note” after the 90′s cartoon. However, after they told him who was writing it he jumped aboard.
“But they said, ‘We got Paul Dini,’ who was my favorite ever Joker writer, ‘and Kevin Conroy,’ who I love. This was a real reunion and a very pleasant experience. So of course I relented, but I had no idea it would have the impact it did.”
As for the sequel ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum 2″, he said he wasnt really up for doing the sequel because he felt that the sequel will not top or even match up to the first game. However, that all changed once Rocksteady showed him what they have in store for ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum 2′ and once again we will hear his last laugh in ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum 2′.
So sad when you know this game will be the last time you will hear that insane Joker laugh.
