Infinity Ward Suspects Server Petition Fake & MW 2 Capped at 9v9

MW2

More news today for Modern Warfare 2 from Infinity Ward that fans of the series did not want to hear. Infinity Ward’s Mackey McCandlish and Ryan Lastimosa had a online discussion with the Best Buy community.

First, the Infinity Ward developers answered fans on the matter of considering dedicated server in the near future:

“We feel the PC game is great in it’s current form. We put a lot of work into IWnet in an effort to make the PC experience better for our users. We believe MW2 is better than CoD4:MW. The reason iw.net exists is to improve the gameplay for our users. If there is a need for something more in the future we will address as needed. Our goal is to provide the best experience for our users, so nothing is ever “off the table”. We are always evaluating our options.”

Then they were asked on how Infinity Ward felt about the petition for the dedicated server:

“All I can say is that we changed it to make it a better and easier experience. Also, not all of the [178,000] names on that list are legit. 402 signed it 4 times I heard.”

Finally, the community asked about adding more players to the match instead of the normal 18 players, which surprisingly the developers said that the game will capped out at 18 players.

“Games cap out at 9v9. The software has great latency tolerance.”

These specification will be standard for all consoles and PC of course. With just a few more days till launch of probably the biggest FPS game of the year, What do you think about all this and will you be buying the game?

Seriously?… 9v9 cap for PC? I was on the fence before with the whole no dedicated server issue. But i never join a game that small. Screw this game, don’t think ill ever get it now.
Sad that the console has ruined a great PC FPS.

i would moan about this game, saying how if something isnt broke, dont fix it, or how cod4 servers were perfect, how taking away modded servers will reduce the longevity of the game, how they didnt beta test it for PC and by how not doing all of this is making PC players feel very neglected…. but im not going to……… at the end of the day im still gonna buy it, ive been lucky enough to play the single player and co-op spec ops already, and it is a fantastic game… alas, listening to the consumers should be their number 1 priority…. of all platforms… not JUST console

I don’t really care about CoD but after all the hype I’ll probably download to check it out.

That being said I find it insane the player cap will remain the same for console and PC users. It just shows they are going lowest common denominator with this, and many other new games. And the lowest common denominator is the console for anything but fighting games and plat formers.

WTF. Just WTF. I am shocked. I thought I was buying this for sure. It was a no brainer. With no server support and 9v9, they ruined the game. The fact that it costs 60 is a slap in the face. So they can take their profits and their game and shove them right where they belong. Fucking sell outs.
