Everyone knows about the movie The Grudge with Sarah Michelle Gellar, but what about the original Japanese movie Ju-On? XSEED announced May 21st that North American fans of either movie will be able to enjoy the game just before Halloween.

The game is apparently a sort of “haunted house simulator,” with the Wii Remote being the player’s in-game flashlight. Players will go through areas that other horror games have already delved into: A mannequin factory, an abandoned warehouse, and a hospital to list the most common. But XSEED is hoping the interactivity with the Wii Remote acting as flashlight will give these old locations a new twist.

They are developing Ju-On: The Grudge with help from Takashi Shimizu, the creator of the original Ju-On movie and Japanese horror master.

The survival horror genre has run a little dry over the past few years, and XSEED and Shimizu seem confident they can give the genre a breath of ghostly breath this fall.
