Judge Mathis’ New Game: ‘Go to Prison and you might get raped’

Ex-Judge Mathis was a judge on a day-time reality court television show that aired in the afternoon with several other court drama shows. The difference between him and the other judges is that he grew up in a gang life and later on he changed himself.
Judge Mathis teamed up with Hollywood Filmmaker Matty Rich (The Inkwell, Straight Out of Brooklyn) to create an original videogame for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC called ‘Mathis “Detroit” Street Judge’.
The game is actually a third-person, open world shooter set in Detroit rather then making a game of the show. Gamers will be playing as a convicted felon named La-Ron Washington, who’s been released from prison and was given a last chance by Judge Mathis to turn good. He must perform community services and avoid his past gang life in order to not be sentenced to life by Judge Mathis. However, the whole entire Detroit underworld is after him for the killing of their boss, which he didn’t do.
“I know that the most popular game out there is Grand Theft Auto IV and I know that a lot of young video game players like the (virtual) action of criminal activity,” said Mathis. “In this game, we’re giving them that action and adding the option of living a mainstream, successful life. They have the combination of an action-packed criminal activity, as well as the opportunity to turn their lives around and pursue a level of success, as I did after leaving my background in the world of crime.”
Judge Mathis also want kids to know how real prison is like:
“The main difference between our game and Grand Theft Auto is that players will have to deal with the justice system and consequences for their actions,” said Mathis. “When you go to prison, you gain credibility when you come back on the streets. On the other hand, when you go to prison you can also be raped. So take your chances. We may see young people who make the wrong choice and go to prison and are assaulted repeatedly (in this game).”
Yup, you will get to see your game character being molested in prison. There is a lot of things wrong with this concept since Judge Mathis is trying to use this game to target kids. However, the game is not likely to pass the ratings to sell it to kids because there is probably going to be a prison rape scene in the game and besides that, the game does seem to be a Grand Theft Auto clone.
The game is still in production stage by Matt Rich’s new game company called Matty Rich Games. Mathis “Detroit” Street Judge, which is due out at the end of this year, will be the first game from his new game company.
