Konami announces Birds of Steel, a WWII air combat simulator

Konami has announced the World War II air combat simulation title, Birds of Steel, which will be developed by Gaijin Entertainment, developers of many successful air combat games including Birds of Prey.

The game will allow us to fight through 20 missions from history, including the famous battle of Midway, along with a number of fictional scenarios. Over 100 planes have been “faithfully recreated in terms of handling, capabilities and weaponry.” Damn, I need to bring a F-22 Raptor back in time to blow stuff up.

Birds of Steel will support cooperative play online as well as versus modes.

The game will be available on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 next year.
