Left 4 Dead Crash Course DLC Free For PC, 560 pts For Xbox 360

l4d-crash-courseEarlier this week Valve announced a new DLC called ‘Crash Course‘. Today we’ve received news that the DLC will be free for PC users but will require 560 points for the Xbox 360.

I love the PC and that is actually where I play L4D but I don’t think it’s too fair that an Xbox user should have to fork out 560 points where as a PC user will be getting it for free. According to an article in the Game Informer magazine, before a downloable content can be played into the marketplace, Microsoft has to determine the price to the content (not trying to point fingers but… stating the obvious).

Microsoft doesn’t like giving out things for free. Earlier this year, the developers of Braid was planning to give out a few copies of Braid in which Microsoft told them “You can’t do that”.

It is unlikely to believe Valve would’ve been the one to set a price for the DLC as their recent announcement of Left 4 Dead 2 has caused quite some drama and even a boycott group on the steam forums. Additionally, Valve has promised they will be offering new content for free.

Whether Valve gets a cut out of the download is unknown and the price set is made by Microsoft is also unconfirmed at this point. Will keep you updated if there’s any word out.
