Back in April this year, if you recall, Harmonix had announced Lego Rock Band, much to the relief of so many who didn’t want their kids being exposed to the evils of Rock music. Developed by TT Games in partnership with Harmonix, and published by Warner Bros Entertainment, the game was expected to be built around the theme, “Build a Band and Rock the Universe”, giving total control to the players in building up their favorite characters and the musical gizmos.

As a fitting tribute the one-and-only immortal King of Pop, Lego Rock brand will now include a Jackson 5 track according to Traveler’s Tales boss Jonathan Smith as reported in VG247:

“We have the Jackson 5’s amazing ‘I Want You Back’; “Breakout” by Foo Fighters, and ‘A-Punk’ from the brilliant Vampire Weekend”, the report says.

As per the GDC announcement itself, the teen and tween geared game boasted of some of these tunes: Blur’s “Song 2″, Carl Douglas’ “Kung Fu Fighting”, Europe’s “The Final Countdown”, Good Charlotte’s “Boys and Girls” and Pink’s “So What”.

The game is slated for Holiday 2009 release for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS.

It is a fitting farewell, indeed, to the King from the Gaming world.
