It comes as no surprise that Activision and Glu have announced new game releases for mobile phones, as both developers seek to control the market and dominate every platform possible. Both Activision and Glu Mobile recently announced that they will release a range of IP’s for mobile phones during the next two quarters including, Modern Warfare 2. In addition to Modern Warfare 2, Glu will release small versions of Blur, Tony Hawk: Ride, Guitar Hero, and crash Mutant Island.

The highlight of both quarters will be the release of Crash Mutant Island in Q3 and the release of the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 2 in Q4. Without a doubt Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 will be the most exciting entertainment venture of the year.

Jeff Braff, Senior vice president, global publishing, Glu Mobile, said, “the Glu team is excited to develop a mobile game for this blockbuster title for fans of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise.”

Though a mobile version of Infinity Ward’s mental shooter will be available in the last quarter for Android, Blackberry, BREW, J2ME and Windows Mobile, there is no mention of anything for iphone yet. Despite this, these releases are clever moves for the developers as they seek to control the franchise.
