MK9 Environment Bio No. 3: Deadpool Trailer Released

One of the nostalgic backdrops from MK2, the Dead Pool is one of the classic stages which appears  looking grimmer, darker and sinister each time. Classically designed as a huge pool with a narrow cement ledge where fighters fight to the death. On the ceiling there are various chains and hooks hanging above it, a sinister reminder and implication of what the Dead Pool’s use is in-game: an acidic death for those who are unlucky enough to be hanging from those chains and hooks.

The Dead Pool made a comeback in MK: Armageddon where it was shown as a floating platform with the characteristic chains and acid liquid.

It is one of the stages in the game that features a stage fatality where the champion of the fight may opt to send their opponent into the pool of acidic liquid, dying a most painful death by acid burn.

But, the environment bio just released right now gives us a little more insight and story as to what the Dead Pool really is, giving it an additional edge of spookiness all the more. Apparently, the pool is the final destination for many of Kahn’s prisoners and the home to many of Shang Tsung’s failed experiments, hanging from those hooks and chains on the ceiling. The Dead Pool, as a choice for battle’ is both a reminder and a threat of what lays ahead should they fail to be victorious.

The Dead Pool reimagined looks gorgeous, frightening and workable. They have included a pair of creatures who operate the mechanism of the hooks and chains that can send the unfortunates to their acidic deaths.
