‘Modern Warfare 2′ 3rd Person Mode Leaked

October 26, 2009 by srfto

MW2

Someone very special seems to have a copy of Modern Warfare 2 early and did what any other ordinary gamer would do, which of course, is to record it and share it with the whole internet. The video that leaked out did show a very important hidden feature in the upcoming Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward most likely wanted to keep it a secret till launch of the game or as close to launch as possible.

The video showed off one of the hidden feature which is the 3rd person mode in Modern Warfare 2. Also, it got a quick look at the list of all the other game modes (already translated from French to English in no time by the community).

List of the game modes:

  • team deathmatch
  • free-for-all
  • domination
  • ground war
  • sabotage
  • HQ Pro
  • Search and destroy
  • capture the flag
  • demolition
  • 3rd person team deathmatch
  • hardcore team deathmatch
  • hardcore Search and destroy
  • teamdeathmatch
  • cage match 3rd person

It would been a better surprise if they put dedicated server as one of the features that was hidden till launch.

Check out the video after the break.

They’ve had third person in all the Call of Duty’s I believe. It was only available if you had the developer settings on though. So now what they are doing is making it into a game mode/type for it instead of just the first person view.

Nothing really new and when I wandered about on MW1 in third person mode it was really awkward. I don’t think it will be very popular once the game has been out a few weeks.

Probably should have spent the time on integrating dedicated server support as well as their own IWnet system for PC. I can’t see why IWnet isn’t an add-on/optional thing with the dedicated server support being permanent like it always has been.

The Call of Duty Franchise has never had a third person perspective, it is a first person shooter always has been.

I always found third person easier to play (Socom on PlayStation )but since I really started to play third person shooters like the Call of Duty games and Operation Flashpoint, you can get into the game so much more…

Have this ability in Modern Warfare 2 may be a nice feature but not everyone will use it.

When I said they’ve always had third person I didn’t mean as a playable mode. I stated that it could be accessed by using some developer commands in the console and I used to use it to test my maps to see whether your head sticks over a certain height wall/window and other things like that.

Some games do have good first person mode but the third person views in the previous call of duty’s was not refined and so I hope that they have worked a little on it in MW2 so it is playable.

I still think they didn’t need to put it in though and that the PC dedicated server support would have been a much better use of their time.

  6. Cool I guess but what is the appeal? See your dude running around at the sacrifice of aiming ability?
