Modern Warfare 2 Details Leaked

Many new key details have been emerging about the hottest upcoming shooter Modern Warefare 2 courtesy of the next issue of Game Informer.
Some of these details that were leaked:
- No co-op in story mode, but separate missions reminiscent of CoD4’s Mile High Club include cooperative multiplayer.
- In the wintery bits of the game, snowmobiles will be used to escape attack, but it’s unclear whether players will be driving or shooting from the vehicles. Ice walls can also be climbed by alternating between the two triggers.
- A live-patching system will be implemented for online multiplayer, forgoing the need for a downloadable patch.
- Game will run at 60 frames-per-second, with better detail than CoD4.
- Riot shields, movable turrets and customized weapons for single-player enemies were mentioned.
- Gameplay’s a bit more open-ended than CoD4 but is still linear.
- Stealth can now be used if you like.
- Infinity Ward’s working on fixing enemy respawn issues (CoD4’s enemies would constantly respawn unless a player crossed a certain line).
- The single-player campaign will be longer than it was in CoD4.
Also according to PSM3, a UK based magazine:
- Swimming mode enabled.
- A ‘Stealthy’ Oil pipeline Scuba Mission will be included in campaign mode.
- A level will definetly be based in Rio De Janeiro.
- Siberian Level will feature in campaign mode.
- Vehicles (e.g. Trucks, Tanks etc.) will be introduced into the Modern Era.
- A ‘Helicopter Based’ Level will be featured.
- An Oil Tanker level will also be featured.
- Ken Lally (Wesker from Resident Evil 5) will be voice acting. Most likely as a Russian villain.

How many WWII games can they make? Besides this is only the second modern warfare game, they have already made 4 WWII games including World at War which was just released in November so play that or another one of the million WWII games and relax. The first modern warfare sold more and is still played more than World at War so why would they release another WWII game?

yeah and besides treyarch announced that they are likly moving to the Veitnam War for cod7 s WWII it wil stil be actionpacked but on a lower level.
Gotta love the people making huge jumps in logic based on a few seconds of video and a few sentences. How about seeing the game in more detail before jumping to conclusions, yes?

He means a port from a console to the computer. COD4/WaW were availible on console, but weren’t ports. Ports suffer terrible issues (Dodgy graphics/physics, ‘Press Start’ junk, little/no multiplayer support)
This game will be great but it needs to have Competitive Co-Op like COD: WAW.
I dont think it needs a co-op campaign but i do think it will need to have a zombie mode type thing like on cod: waw just more modern!

Why the fuck doesnt Infinity Ward smarten up and make it able to play with a guest online.Look at Halo one of thr best-selling games mostly because of that feature. Why do they continue to make fps games that aren’t coop story mode? I’ll never understand the thought process behind their thinking. Never. Lets make a kick ass fps (which we all really know it is just another boring fps) and take the only element that makes the game fun (playing coop with a friend sitting right next to you) and say fuck it, we’ll just throw out another mildly entertaining piece of shit.
Seriously, I am sick and tired of playing these regurgitated FPS games that I can’t even play with a friend.
Well.. using the original Modern Warfare as an example, there were important moments of the single player story that would not have worked as well in coop, if at all. The coup, the downed pilot rescue, the nuke, the suicide, the ending.
Coop works better in some FPS structures than others. In the Halo series, the gameplay is oriented around arena battles that are very emergent in nature. The storyline is progressed through non-interactive cut scenes. This plays to coop’s strengths.
In CoD4:MW, the story is told interactively through player POV. To make it work in Coop you’d have to strip out a lot of these elements because they’re not really compatible with multiple perspectives. The combat would be fun in coop but the context, story, and moments would be less successful and it would ultimately be a different type of game.

yea you seriously play COD 4 and your just kinda blown away at some points, when it first came out and i was playing on an HD 50 inch TV and Surround sound i was practically pissing myself. Its like a movie that you interact with and your a part of. There are just some points in the storyline that just wont work with CoOp so Infinitly Ward is just trying to balance it out. Therefore they are making several side missions that are CoOp. Therefore you have the best of both worlds. A dazzeling and deep story and some fun Cooperative missions. But in the end its all about the multiplayer, look campaign is great the first week you have the game. The Multiplayer and the prestigues keep you goin and into the game. Thats why there are so many People still playing COD 4, and thats whats going to make or break Modern Warfare 2. I personally just want more gun customizations and more interesting perks ( ex a perk that gives you 2 weapon attachments or something like that ) and as honeydutchiez said i wanna have destructable environments. And hopefully Infinity Ward wont put too much shit in this game and screw it up. Its an amazing game and you dont need to fix what isnt broken. Just throw in some better graphics and add in a few more things and infinity ward is going to make a killing and i wont give a shit cuz ill be playing the best game on the planet.
The easy work around for that would be to skip those missions in Co-OP. They did it for a couple missions in WAW, why not this one?

Hey Doc…I’m with you on this one. I, too, am tired of the same ONE player story campaign feeling. So many games could’ve been SO much more entertainng and REPLAYABLE if they had designed them from ground up AS two player co-op.
If not just for the FUN, and REPLAYABLITY factor at least for the REALISM. I am an Army vetern of the War on Terror. Just got out 2 years ago. I don’t recall being the ONLY “player” in combat in Iraq. I had my team, my squad, my platoon, my company, my battalion, my regiment, my divison right there with me. Even in the game you are given NPC or “computer controlled players” which ALWAYS seem to never REALLY do anything productive. YOU are always the one handling the objectives and achievements. SO..why is it SOOO difficult to make ONE of those NPC a PC (player controlled person)? UGH!
Rainbow Six Las Vegas…awesome game. Still play it becaues of the co-op. With a friend sitting right next me…it is a different experience each time. It even has great online play. Furthermore…they STILL give you the two NPC (though they are mostly shit (lack of better word)). The designers just added you in. (And for the designers of MW2…Rainbow Six Las Vegas had at least ONE (mostly likely more) mission(s) where Co-op didn’t fit) The level where you find out you’ve been double crossed by a teammate…you are alone and talking to the perp…then you get ambushed. And Co-op still made it funny even the “story” didn’t fit. FUN! Is what the game is all about. I want JUST a story…I’ll read a book!
Rio de Janeio level will be fun!!

The reason they are not letting u play coop on the campaign is probably that some of the missions are just to hard to implement coop into, such as missions where u have to escape on snowmobiles or the helicopter missons.

I’m tired of everyone complaining about what they want, and what NEEDS to be in a game. It’s plain and simple COD is an fps and if you don’t like it, fine and great, just shut up and play another game. They don’t model the game after everything you want. Sure, there are a lot of things taht need fixed in games, but don’t tell me about stuff that’s in another game that makes it so great, there are things in COD that make it great that no other game uses. So please, shut the hell up with the co-op talk. It’s clear COD wasn’t geared to be a co-op fps. And if you want to play with some friends, why do you think it has online capabilities?
So how does this work with room mates or siblings? My wife always wants to play COD 4 with me, but I have to tell her no, since it doesn’t have a CO-OP mode. So If she wants to play COD with me I have to put in COD5/WAW, I’m not a big fan of that one. I really like COD 4. And 2 player multi-player is just plain boring. Also I think it would be stupid to tell your friends to go home so we can play call of Duty, when they are at your house wanting to play now.
If the make Modern Warfare 2 in 1st person and 3rd person views that means that you can play the game in both ways however you want to play the game. Modern Warfare 2 is going to be number one best selling game. Sincerely, Macfan1

If there was a co-op mode it would only make it better. They really only need to change a few things, more weapons, more attachment(multiple attachments)would work well with a higher ranking system reach a certain rank and you get x ammount of attachments. Customized charicters would be sweet. DEstructable maps would really be cool. More maps more maps more maps. Cap the flag should have been in cod4, i hope it makes it to mw2.New perks and more of them. Other than that leave the game how it is. come on november. cant wait for tekken 6 either..
