Modern Warfare 2 Keeps “Call of Duty” Name

cod-modern-warfare-2-boxIn a recent survey reported by Gamasutra suggests that many gamers were unaware of its Modern Warfare 2 without the “Call of Duty” attached to the name. Destructoid’s Nick Chester has also stated how obvious the “Call of Duty” name should be kept using data from Google Trends as you can see below.

Apparently, Infinity Ward feels the same and has now decided to keep the “Call of Duty” on top of “Modern Warfare 2″. The game box art has been revealed as you can see above with the “Call of Duty” brand and it seems like it is official as it has been announced by Robert Bowling via Twitter.

Looks like they’re not taking any chances of risking their success on their upcoming shooter sequel. Activision certainly has high expectations, yesterday they’ve clarified they are delaying Raven’s shooter Singularity into 2010 to clear the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season.

So — to ‘Call of Duty’ or to not ‘Call of Duty’? That is the question.

I don’t think that Modern Warfare 2 should have call of duty tagged to it.
Simply because Treyarch is gay, and just knowing that Infinity Ward made the game should be 15 times the amount of recognition needed.
