Monkey Island 2 in CRYENGINE
September 21, 2009 by srfto

With the revival of the Monkey Island franchise, Loneclone used the original 2D settings from ‘Monkey Island 2: Le Chuck’s Revenge’ and created 3D effect through CRYENGINE.
- The Cryengine Video explores the sets in a real-time environment created with Cryengine Sandbox editor.
- The Concept Video shows off the camera projection technique used on concept art for Captain Dread’s ship.
- The Voodoo Video shows the camera projection technique used on the Mix’n Mojo concept art.
What you see here is what the original 2d Monkey Island 2 would look like in 3d with the Crysis engine. The results are amazing and you got to give a hand to Loneclone for only using just a map editor, cryengine, some camera techniques, and a little basic 3D geometry for achieving this kind of results.
Check out the video and screenshots after the jump.

Now that’s amazing.. This guys deserves a case o’grog.
Absolutely breathtaking.
He’s perfectly captured the atmosphere of the original game (which I still have on 5.25″ floppies!)
They should do the whole thing and release it. I would buy it immediately.
wow.. that’s the second best 3D CRYENGINE rendition i’ve ever seen!
Wow really nice! Basically I did same kind experiment when converting Dark Age of Camelot scenery and some assets to Crysis. ( http://mharjula.blogspot.com/ )
But this required a lot more than just basic conversion
You’ve just made my day, I LOVE DARK AGE OF CAMELOT! Maybe I’ll pick it up again.
Wow Lucasarts should give these guys a job just for the sheer talent and dedication, this is grade A production value, looks much better than the current monkey chapters that are being released.
They should do the whole thing and release it. I would buy it immediately…
That is pretty amazing. Love the artstyle.
That is why I think every game should release the modding tools to the community. Its a win-win situation.
Thats the second biggest Monkey Island mod Ive ever seen.
Imagine if they did Manic Mansion or any of the Scumm engine games…
Yeah… and maybe they could do a remake of Loom and even fix the sequal that so many of us longed for… why a sequal wasn’t made in 1990/91 is beyond me…
