Netflix Heading to Sony TVs, PS3 Feels So Alone

The Xbox 360 has Netflix, the Wii is getting CinemaNow in Japan this October, so what about the Playstation 3? Nothing’s on the horizon yet for Sony’s console, but their televisions are getting Netflix come this fall.

Sony and Netflix have teamed up to bring the streaming video service to Sony’s Bravia line of televisions. This could have to do with Sony’s initiative to keep other television manufacturers from becoming the “Google of the TV” but incorporating more interactive features to their devices.

Whatever the reason, it’s a little off that they would skip the Playstation 3 for Netflix and go straight to their television line.

It might be a good sign for dealings between the two companies in the future, though — why release on their televisions and skip out on the video game console? In the long run, it doesn’t make sense.

The only thing that could possibly be holding it back is Netflix’s contract with Microsoft for streaming on the 360, but that can’t last forever. This move onto Sony televisions is a good sign for Playstation 3 owners, as long as they can wait it out.
