New Add-On for FFXI is Full of Moogles

Those who thought that Final Fantasy XI was long dead, think again. The long-running MMORPG got a new expansion earlier this year, and later this summer a new scenario called “A Moogle Kupo d’Etat – Evil in Small Doses” is going live.

The scenario requires that players already have the Rise of the Zilart expansion, and that they have at least one character over the level 10. Luckily, most Final Fantasy XI players filled both of those requirements a long time ago.

So what’s the point of this new content besides some Moogle fanservice and a little more for players to do? Not much, apparently. The press release doesn’t venture into details, but it does give the beginnings of the story:

It all started with an innocent drop of rainwater and a rickety, ramshackle Mog House desperately in need of repair.

Little did anyone suspect that this would be the beginning of a harrowing nightmare unheard of in the annals of moogle-kind.

Anyone interested can “pre-buy” the content starting July 5, but there has been no news as to the actual release date.
