Well, not too much to report on this one, but it’s good news all the same. Not a lot of fuss was made about it during E3, but during Sony’s press conference it was revealed that Capcom will be bringing a brand new Resident Evil game to the PSP.

Details are practically non-existant, but it has been confirmed that the game is a brand new story, not a remake or retelling as the series has one in the past. Also, it was mentioned that the game will be designed to take advantage of some of the PSPgo’s unique features.

The game’s working title is Resident Evil Portable, and it’s scheduled for launch some time next year. I wonder which of the game’s myriad protagonists will star this time? Another Leon or Claire game perhaps? We haven’t heard from Jill in awhile either… or maybe it’ll be a brand new character. Here’s a pretty solid bet though: there’ll probably be some zombies (or at least plaga-infected humans). Check out Kramez’s blog on Capcom Unity for more.
