New Xbox 360 Arcade Boxes Imply 360 Pro On the Way Out

The Xbox 360 Pro is the most common variation of the 360 in households, but could Microsoft be phasing it out and replacing it with the Elite? If the new Arcade boxes are any indication, it’s possible.

The difference in boxes was pointed out by Kotaku, and it just couldn’t be a mere mistake or misprint. Microsoft has not officially announced any news about phasing out the Pro model, but  the holiday season is on the horizon and Sony is phasing out their 80 gb PS3 model for what might be the PS3 slim.

Phasing out the 360Arcade would seem like a better idea since it’s sort of like the Elite and Pro’s  handicapped little brother, but Microsoft probably makes more money off of the poor saps who buy the gimped console and then have to buy peripherals than we know.

The good news is that this would bring a price cut to the Elite — most likely down to the current price point of the Pro. But still, come on: the Arcade definitely deserves this more than the Pro.
