Nintendo Controller Modded into Wireless Doorbell

June 29, 2009 by Ruibo

nes-controller-doorbellWhat better way to greet your gaming buddies than to offer them a controller right at your doorsteps? Well, the controller is not exactly what you think but it has been modded into a doorbell by gutting the controller, hacking a wireless doorbell system, and then mounting the receiver/LED inside.

The doorbell module was modified a bit to deal with the relatively high resistance of the NES controller button pads as well as to add a feedback LED. The original specs of the doorbell module is unknown, the wireless range extends to approximately 30 feet through walls and doors with no problems. The only flaw of the invention is not having the Super Mario Bros. theme song.
