Nintendo Releasing Enhanced Motion Sensor

Nintendo has never denied that the accuracy on the Wii Remote was a little iffy. A new peripheral for the Wii Remote is hoping to fix that problem.

Slated to be released June 8th, the Wii MotionPlus comes to us as yet another add on for the Wii Remote, as opposed to a new, enhanced remote. The peripheral uses gyroscopic sensors to sense exact hand movements to give a more accurate portrayal of the player’s control over the Wii Remote.

Nintendo isn’t explaining why they didn’t include the technology in the first place or why they didn’t just release a new remote, but anyone who has been following Nintendo for any extended period knows the reason. (Hint: Money.)

Five games so far are confirmed to utilize the new technology: Wii Sports Resort, Tiger Woods, Grand Slam Tennis; Virtua Tennis 2009, and Red Steel 2. Players who were disappointed by the original Red Steel will be pleasantly surprised by the new sensor technology and not feeling like they’re swooping a foam noodle around.

Analysts predict the Wii MotionPlus will be sold stand alone for $19.99, and $49.99 with Wii Sports Resort, but Nintendo has yet to set an official price.
