Nintendo Wii U Launch Titles revealed [updated]

The Nintendo Wii U has just been announced, and although still without a price, there’s already a heft amount of games that will be available for launch in addition to the backwards compatibility support for the original Wii.

The first game that was announced for the Nintendo Wii U is a new Super Smash Bros. title which will be available on the 3DS as well.

LEGO City Stores by Tt Games will be an open world game similar to Grand Theft Auto but in LEGO form.

Other titles that were mentioned includes the following:

Batman Arkham City
Assassin’s Creed
Arkham City
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online
Darksiders 2
Dirt
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Metro: Last Light
Tekken
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge

After owning the Wii for some time, I’ve really missed out on some of the more graphic intense games and with the Wii U, it looks like Nintendo is looking take back some of that market of hardcore gamers.

[Update] – Here it is in video format, not the best quality and can’t really get a comparison of what to really expect in terms of graphics but something is better than nothing.

[Another Update] – The footage has been confirmed by Reggie Fils-Aime that the three-minute video showcased at the conference are not taken directly from the Wii U but are gameplay from the PS3/360/PC versions of the games.

Reggie has also mentioned that all Wii U software showing at E3 should not be taken as indicative of retail Wii U games, instead they’re mostly tech demos and proof-of-concept software.
