North Korea Hacks South Korean MMO to Fund Nuclear Weapons Program

It has been reported by New York Times that hackers from North and South Korea and a group from Northern China was farming MMOs for real money to fund Kim Jong-il nuclear weapons program.

The South Korean authorities reported that they arrested four operatives in Seoul that was reported to be in the hacking group. The hackers were farming games such as Lineage and Dungeon Fighter Online. The farmers was reported to use an automated script to farm the in-game currency and then sell it back out for real currency.

It has been reported that the group consist of 30 people and consist of people from Northern China, South Korea, and North Korea. The group made off with over 6 million dollars in less than two years, which 55 percent of that will go to the North Korean hackers who had made the script. Some of the money was even reported to be giving to the North Korean government agents from a secret bureau called Office 39.

Apparently, the bureau is said to had made billions of dollars from drug trafficking, arms sale, and other illegal activities. The money that the bureau generates is said to fund the North Korean nuclear weapons program.
