Official Confirmation- New Blizzard MMO Is Based On Fresh IP

Rumors and speculation surrounding the IP of Blizzard’s upcoming MMO has been rife for months, until now though it’s been speculation. There’s been a breakthrough.
Zarhym, the Blizzard Community Manager has revealed in a post on the official World of Warcraft forums that the new MMO is based entirely on new intellectual property. “We have nothing to advertise for the new MMO because it’s a shell of a game thus far. We’ve already stated it’ll be a brand new franchise, which means the lore, art, and game play are being developed entirely from scratch. It’s an overwhelming process, but a process through which we excel. Our track record supports this.” Granted, this isn’t a press release or earth moving report, but it’s by far the most concrete news on the matter thus far. He is an official Blizzard manager after all.
Now that the speculation has been ended with official news news we can speculate on the new games genre. Fantasy, Science Fiction, Cyberpunk, Steampunk? Who knows? I think we can pretty much write fantasy out of the equation – been there done that. I’m hoping Blizzard expand their excellence into another genre and setting entirely.
