In a surprising move by DICE and EA, they are going to restrict the number of profiles to one profile per player in Battlefield 3.

This restriction will definitely anger some of the PC gamers out there that enjoyed the multiple profiles feature in the Battlefield series. The restriction means that in order to change your name in-game, you will need to change your Origin account name too because both account will be tied together. However, there is no confirmation that you can actually change the Origin account name that is tied to the game.

A lot of PC gamers will probably be upset that they can’t change their name or even start a second brand new profile, unless they probably need to delete the first profile first.

DICE and EA still has a chance to change this restriction before the game is released.
