Playing Mario for a great cause

There are many reasons to play Mario. It is the most valued game in the history of games after all. Some people play Mario because they are fans, others play Mario because it is a classical and want to remember the old times and you can play it, of course, just for fun. But there are three guys from Lafayette (Indiana) who are playing Mario for the children’s sake.
They created Mario Marathon and their goal is to beat 7 Mario Bros games: Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy, all of them in three days. They will play them to the end, collecting all stars and give all donations to Child’s Play, a charity organization wich donates games and toys to children in different hospitals along the world.
This is the second year running Mario Marathon, past year they collected $11.600 and they wanted to beat this sum in the current year’s edition. They already did it by collecting more than $15.000 so far and still growing. You can watch them playing live in their site as well as checking the status of their game as well as how many lives and stars they have collected in real time.
We must support this kind of initiatives, playing for a good cause is much better than playing for fun. We really hope this will generate a lot of money, so a lot of children can enjoy and benefit from this game industry like the rest of us for so long.
Thanks to them and Mario Bros, of course.
