Strange, unique and just plain fun downloadable games have been one of the biggest hits on XBox Live Arcade, and now doubt Sony would like to copy that success for their Playstation Network. Unfortunately, those looking forward to the upcoming PSN game Fat Princess are going to have to wait a little longer for this quirky multiplayer offering.

Sony’s Mike Kebby mentioned in a recent blog post that the game is going to be pushed back to some time later this summer, though he didn’t specify exactly when. The game was supposed to be hitting the network this month.

Once the game finally does release, players can look forward to its colorful, cel-shaded style and wacky gameplay. Teams of up to 16 players will both be battling each other, attempting to reclaim their side’s princess – whom the other team can make harder to move by feeding lots of cake. The game will also feature a similar single player mode and some other extras. It looks like it’ll be a ton of fun, but who knows when we’ll see it?
