Quake Live’s Open Beta Makes a Bang

March 2, 2009 by Ruibo

February 24th marks the first day Quake Live went into open beta and now with over 290k players registered. Reported queue lines of over 10,000, Quake would soon be the hottest browser based MMO FPS once it tackles the server issues. Never would I have thought a browser game can take you this far considering there’s barely a strong MMO FPS game built for the PC.

Quake Live offers up to 30 different maps and 40 arenas with 4 different game modes. They game seems to pack quite a punch for open beta. Future plans include integration for Mac and Linux systems. Best part of browser based games are near instant game action from almost any PC anywhere.
