Rage Runs Faster In Xbox 360 Than PS3

The latest issue of Edge magazine revealed that the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Rage, the upcoming id’s game, are making higher framerates than the PS3 version.
According to the above source the Xbox 360 version is matching the 60 frames per second of the PC version while PS3 is running at only 20-30 fps.
“The PS3 lags a little bit behind in terms of getting the performance out of it,” John Carmack told Edge. “The rasteriser is just a little bit slower – no two ways about that.
“The RSX is slower than what we have in the 360. The CPU is about the same, but the 360 makes it easier to split things off, and that’s what a lot of the work has been, splitting it all into jobs on the PS3,” he said.
However, he is confident in the PS3 version being able to match PC and Xbox 360 and said “Everything is designed as a 60 hertz game. We expect this to be 60 hertz on every supported platform.” And added “The work remaining is getting it locked so there’s never a dropped frame or a tear, but we’re confident that we’re going to get that.”
It is hard to believe that PS3 is so much behind the Xbox 360, considering that the huge shooter will be released in 1 Blu-ray disc compared to four DVD’s to be released on Xbox 360, but we are confident in John Carmack and the new engine Tech-5 to sort this out and get the same FPS in all platforms.
