Rated “M” Sexy Poker Includes No Nudity

ESRB has rated Sexy Poker, the Wii game as Mature “M”, but the game does not include any nudity, just some sexy lingerie. Those are the reasons that ESRB exhibits for such a rating about this decaffeinated game:

Content descriptors: Simulated Gambling, Suggestive Themes
Rating Summary: This is a Strip Poker game in which players engage in games of Black Jack and Poker against female avatar opponents. The object of the game is to win hands in order to remove articles of clothing from still images of the female characters. Nurses, police women, office workers, and sports figures can eventually be stripped down to show their lingerie. The female opponents encourage the player with provocative comments such as, “Perhaps you could be my business partner…for tonight at least?” and, “If you impress me, I might give you my special treatment.”
We remind this game has been prohibited in Australia because:
“In the Board’s view Sexy Poker offers depictions of nudity as an incentive or reward to interactive game play. In the Board’s view, the general rule in the Guidelines for the Classification of Films and Computer Games prohibiting depictions of nudity as an incentive or reward, applies to the game play described above, as the player is shown increasingly detailed amounts of nudity following successful game-playIn the view of the Board, the impact of the game exceeds strong as except in material restricted to adults, nudity and sexual activity must not be related to incentives or rewards. As such the game cannot be accommodated in a MA15+ classification”
There is no 18+ rating in Australia so, it was prohibited. But the question is… is a sexy poker game with no nudity sexy? What can we expect next? A platform game with no platforms? A shooting game with no weapons?
If you think this can’t be any more stupid, just think about this, what if the girl got naked when you LOSE? There will be no reason to ban the game nor rating it as M?
