Review: Gamrum.com – A promising Game Stories portal

Here is a new Game Stories portal known as Gam Rum, which includes a few innovative ideas implemented very neatly. The site is based on an open-source Content Management Platform under Affero GPL distribution.

The concept is based entirely on User stories, submitted by the Users and voted by the users. The most popular story gets to the first page. In this sense it is fully democratic site, Of the Users, By the Users, For the Users. The registration process is very simple and straightforward, and you become a member immediately – no waiting period.

The site provides for News-stories under seven channels – General, Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, PC, Mobile, and Online. Once you have registered as a member, you are ready to submit a story. The three-step process for story submission is very elegant, with full support for uploading pictures, giving source links, and an online spell-checker too.

The news display feature includes, besides the channel-wise news, a time dimension also, with recent news, Today’s News, Yesterday, Week, Month and Year. It’s a thoughtful feature that could help in quick searches.

Some Teething issues to be resolved Areas for improvement include 1) The Left Panel menus look clumsy 2) For some reason, the About link on Top right vanishes after you login, and once logged in, you are automatically logged in even after you log out. (Logout does not seem to work)

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Strong Points: Very Good Look and Feel
Navigation and User Experience are excellent
Democratic Front page push-ups
Innovative presentation

I will strongly recommend this site to all Gaming enthusiasts. Can become a hit soon!!!
