Joystiq just reported a rumor on Activision is working on another Guitar Hero game and will be based around Van Halen. The game will be releasing after Guitar Hero: Metallica and will include songs from hailin’ from Califonia rock band’s catalog, such as “Jump”, “Panama”, and “Hot for Teacher”. Also there will be other songs by Judas Priest, Weezer, and Tenacious D.

Activision was unable to lend the leaked information any more credence, saying,

“The Red Octane/Guitar Hero team is currently focused on the upcoming release of Guitar Hero Metallica, as well as the recently announced titles Guitar Hero Greatest Hits and Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits, and does not comment on speculation or rumor.”

Even though I feel like Activision is trying to milk the franchise for everything. We all know it will be another muti-million dollar hit game, which is why Activision is currently the top video-game publisher out there.

By the way, did I mention Activision also plans on donating their $3 Billion dollars to support Tumeroks development? Rumors, true or false, should have more than just “sources” to back them up, especially coming from Joystiq.
